For our latest class, instead of the usual acting activities that we'd usually do, we watched an animated movie. It's nice to do this once in awhile, taking a rest from creating chaos in the class by relaxing and watching a movie with the rest of the class.
The movie that we all agreed to watch is the classic tale of Snow White and The Seven Dwarfs. One of the main reason was that we wanted to see how old animation was done. We were all amazed by the graphic of the movie, that's for sure.
Until we found out about the real task; pick a character from the movie and describe it's characteristics. How we wished we picked a movie that has more characters in it such as The Incredibles or Toy Story instead.
Oh well, might as well give it a try!
Who Is Your Chosen Character?
Well, despite the limited number of characters, there are a few interesting ones. Even the animals have a better attitude compared to the human characters available. If you asked me what character I'd choose, I'd probably pick one of the animals.

So, which character that I chose from the movie? I would say, the European Pond Terrapin (Emys Orbicularis). Wait, what's that? Well, European Pond Terrapin is a type of turtle. Which one?

Okay, maybe I'm a bit bias towards this reptile, especially after what I wrote in my last post about the tortoise for the class. But, hey, this little fella has its charm too, and I'm willing to break it down to you.
What are your character's traits?
Well, it's a type of turtle, so it's pretty obvious that the filmmakers will make him a slow-moving character compared to the other animals. However, despite being so slow, the turtle still tried his best to reach where his friends are. It will keep on going. No one can stop him.
In fact, the turtle is the only reptile in the movie. Poor little guy.
What is the character's role?
Along with the other forest animals in the movie, the turtle befriend Snow White and helped her. This relationship is to emphasize Snow White's isolation since she's the only human around.
(But, then again, this fella is the only reptile, the only slow-moving character, the only turtle in the movie. So, this character must be really lonely in the forest.)
Just like the other animals, aside from accompanying Snow White, the turtle helped her cleaned the dwarfs' cottage in his own pace such as carrying the dirty dishes to the sink and act as a washboard to while the squirrel washed the clothes.
What is the character's goal?
What is the character's goal? Hmm... Well, reaching his goal? Or, reaching his desired destination?
Well, if we watched the movie back, all I noticed was how the turtle will try to keep up with his friends. He is slow in pace, but he keeps on going, refused to be left behind. No giving up allowed.
What is the character's fear?
Fear? Well, being left behind, I guess?
That's why the turtle keeps on going with his journey towards his friends. It's now or never.
But then again, the turtle doesn't seem to have any though. He seems positive, even when being a little too slow.
What are the exaggerated features of the character?
We all know that turtles are slow-moving creatures. So, is it just me? Or is the turtle in the movie a bit faster than how it's supposed to be?
But then again, it's just a cartoon, so it makes sense. Plus, a speedy-but-still-slow turtle is not that bad, right?
What is the character's relationship towards others?
Despite being the only reptile in the film, this doesn't stop the turtle from befriending the other animals in the forest. Along with the rest, the turtle helped Snow White in different ways, from leading her to a nearby cottage, doing some house chores, until the moment where the animals rushed to the mine to warned the dwarfs about the evil witch peddler.
So, despite being a minor character, the turtle has its own role in the movie. It tells people that everyone has their own pace. Only a few keeps on going, just like this turtle.
